His Eminence Archbishop of Tiberiad Alexios (in the world Alexios Moschonas) was born in Lehena in 1954. He came to Jerusalem in 1967. Graduating from the Patriarchal School, he studied the Sacred Science at the Theological School of the University of Athens.
He was tonsured Monk and anointed Deacon in 1972 and in 1975 Priest and received the Office of the Archimandrite in 1978. He served as Secretary in the Patriarchal Offices when in 1979 he was appointed Master of Ceremonies of the Patriarchate and Director of the Patriarchal Museum and Patriarchal Gallery.
In March 1991 he was nominated Member of the Holy and Sacred Synod and in November 1, 1991, he was elected Bishop of Porphyropolis. In June 1996 he was elected Archbishop of Tiberias and was nominated President of the Educational Board. In 2001 he was appointed Patriarchal Representative to Gaza.
He accompanied the Patriarch Diodoros in his different travels.
