The city of Bethsaida was the native place of the Apostles Peter, Andrew and Philip. It is also said that many times the Lord Himself visited His disciples in this sacred city. Its name in Hebrew means “place of fishing”. Its founding is mentioned in the Hellenistic period. During the 6th century, sources testify of the erection of a byzantine Church and its flourishing during the Byzantine period
