On the eve of the feast during the afternoon, the Patriarch of Jerusalem descends in procession to the Church, worships at the Apocathelosis and at the Most Holy Sepulchre and then enters the Catholicon where the vespers are chanted. On Palm Sunday His Beatitude the Patriarch of Jerusalem comes down to the Church of the Resurrection and puts on the officiating vestments in the center of the Catholicon. After the end of the Divine Liturgy a procession (litany) is performed within the Church, with the orthodox clergy led by the Patriarch, circles three times the Holy Edicule, with olive tree and palm tree branches, in one magnificent ceremony.
