The Most Holy Metropolitan of Caesaria Vasilios (in the world Christos) Blatsos, was born in 1923 at Argos. He came to Jerusalem in 1939. He graduated from the Greek and English Bishop Cobat School Gymnasiums (Highschools).

He was tonsured Monk and anointed Deacon in 1946. He studied the Sacred Science at the Theological School of the University of Athens.

He served as Teacher at the Gymnasium and in 1954 he was anointed
Priest, being elevated to Archimandrite and being appointed Director of the “New Sion” Journal.

He served as Secretary of the Holy Synod and in 1957 he was nominated Elder Chief Secretary.

In 1962 he was elected Archbishop of Jordan, maintaining his position of Elder Chief Secretary until 1981. On August 1975 he was elevated to Metropolitan of the First Throne Metropolis of Caesaria, and in 1981 he was appointed Patriarchal Commissioner.

As representative of the Patriarchate he took part at different Conferences. He visited on a mission every Orthodox Patriarchate and the Church of Ethiopia. In 2005 he was appointed again Patriarchal Commissioner.
